Was working on the car last weekend. Put on a new steering wheel and speedo cable(thanks mark
) among other things. When I removed the switches for the wipers and signals to get the cluster out, the headlights turned on (didn't flip up, just had the lights on) and the wipers wouldn't stop. Only way to get the lights off and the wipers off, was to put the switches back in. Is there a ground in there that gets completed when the switches are in place, or do I have some serious electrical issues?
Thanks

Not sure what happened, I can tell you, that when I took my switches out to replace some bulbs in my guages, my lights did not come on. The second time I did it though, I unhooked my battery. I replaced some bulbs on a 83 for someone and shorted out the fuse due to not unhooking the battery.

I had a 83 that when I turned the corner the windshield wipers would cycle. Also sometimes when turning a corner the horn would honk. I discovered the two were not link. However their is a ground point between the wiper control and the high beam control. It looks like a 1/4" or smaller brass washer with a pin in it. I solved my problem by putting a multi layer of aluminum foil between the two points and apparently completing the ground. I hope this works for you.

I _think_, and I empahsise that because I'm not sure about it, but I think I remember hearing that the '83 944 used the same steering wheel switches as the original 924 (non-S) and I know that the wiper switch for the original 924 has a tendency to get a little weird with age.
