My 944 died on the freeway.

My 944 died on the freeway.
I got it to restart, but it died again. I was able to get over to the shoulder and have a look under the hood. I'm getting power to everything else in the car so it's not the battery. I can restart the car but it studders and chokes on fuel...I'm guessing fuel delivery problems. I had my mom bring the DME relay from my 968 in case that was bad, but no luck. I had my mom turn it over without the relay so I could check the spark, but I couldn't see anything in broad daylight. I'm thinking fuel pump...any other reason why the car will run for maybe 20-30 seconds and instantly die again?
Possibly related: I've been having a problem about 2 hours after I drive the car for a while...doesn't seem like the fuel pump is holding pressure so I've gotta sit there cranking the starter for about 5 seconds before the engine fires. Ideas?

fuel pressure is a good start. It is easy to measure if you have the right gage. Pumps go bad. On an 87, the fuel supply is a recirculation type. If any of the parts or hoses are bad, you have problems. Your injectors need a certain pressure. Voltage? Bosch likes 12+ not less. Your starter will crank on less. good luck
