Thumbs up Yes, another ICESHARK light kit response

WOW , really the wiring kit and the lenses are just amazing, but then again all of you already knew that.

Now for the install on the wiring kit...well I don't know how it is on the N/A, but on the turbo it was a pain in the butt...not all that bad, but for me it took some time. The instructions are excellent, but getting the harness to fit behind the lights and fishing it through to the passenger side was a challenge. Then again, it didn't help that it was cold in the garage and it was 9:00am and I hadn't slept the night before. So maybe that was the main problem, but either way I was all done by the late afternoon.

Now for the adjustable voltage regulator...holy crap is it hard to get in. I don't think anyone short of a magician could get that puppy in with the alternator still in the car. I tried and cursed and forced things I shouldn't have...maybe a little too much, became very , and then finally with one last attempt got it in. However, it might be installed a little goofy and giving me some iffy results. I will find out when I do some more tests and take it out to check to see if I broke one of the brushes. But even if it is a little messed up I still get great performance, I just need to verify I did everything right. But knowing me I didn't. DOH!

Now after installing the Valeo lenses, the new bulbs, and turning them on for the first time, words could not express the glee I felt. It was almost like heaven opened up in front of my car and decided to let me in...but then I realized it was just my "light cannons" (copyrighted by a previous listmember) I knew instantly that it was well worth the $350, if you do any sort of night driving I highly recommend this upgrade. I still don't have the lights perfectly adjusted...as in no one has flashed me yet because I have them aimed so low and I can still see everthing in front of me, including the sides. Seriously the light is perfectly white and it just illuminates the highway like I have never seen. I actually took a drive at 3:00am just so no other lights would be around so I could truely appreciate the results.

So thank you ICESHARK, the kit is amazing. It is a joy to drive at night now, as the previous headlights were just plain yellow and pathetic. I still can't believe how white the light is and how well they work...I just laugh at all the blue crappy lights I see on Hondas and Toyotas now, trust me the $14.95 upgrade they bought on ebay does not work...this does. If I had another vehicle I would see if your kit would fit and install one in it too.

Thanks all for reading my extremely long post. Again, I recommend everyone do this upgrade if you do night driving...my lights are better than every new car I have been in. Again, in one word, WOW!!!!! <img src="graemlins/bigok.gif" border="0" alt="[thumbsup]" />

Thanks for the kind words, Patrick. Makes doing this little project worth it.

Now you can go over and share your install wisdom with Andrew in Denver, he just got his full boat package the other day. That makes 4 Colorado guys I can think of off the top of my head.

That darn alternator is a PITA to get to for the voltage regulator change out and you really need to pull it. Think of it this way: if you have an old voltage regulator you need to replace it anyway because the brushes are about worn down to tiny nubs. And the drive belt is probably about shot, too. Just flex the belt inwards and look for cracks in the ribs. It is a cheap belt to replace, 1000 mm long, usually $10 or under.

Enjoy the new light! <img src="graemlins/beerchug.gif" border="0" alt="[cheers]" />

What are these "Valeo" lenses? I don't know much about your kit Iceshark, but didn't you use to use Cibie E-code lenses? I'm thinking these are probably the same thing but I'm just checking. I don't have time right now to work on the harness and stuff but I may want to order just the lenses and bulbs after christmas and see how they are. (if you have any left) Is this a good way to start, and how much will that cost?

Valeo makes Cibie lenses kind of like ITT makes Koni shocks

Mouse, Valeo is the big parent company that bought out Cibie several years back. So the box the lenses come in says Valeo in big letters and Cibie when you read the small print of what is actually inside. Nothing has changed and when you look at the actual crystal face lens (these are crystal like your expensive dining glasses not just plain 'ole glass), Cibie is still cast in there.

Your idea is a good way to start out. Only problem is all the lenses I currently have are assigned to wiring harnesses. 2 pair left. I hope I can get some more after New Years but delivery is a problem. A REAL problem.

I'd just buy the whole works, the "Full Boat", because the results are so dramatic. But you know your finances better than I. The Cibies are $90 for the pair, without bulbs. The 90/100 watt bulbs are $12 each. The whole Full Boat package with an extra set of bulbs and shipping in the lower 48 USA is $349.50.
