Severe battery drain!
Hey guys I need some help with a 1987 944 turbo, it seems that I am getting battery drain, from some thing in the car enough so that over night, even with a good drive to charge the battery, it won't start. I pulled the fuses and I am still getting a drain. Any ideas?

I put new rear hatch shocks in my car and one of the new ones didnt have the dome light switch in it. Dome light wasnt on all the time but it still drained the battery overnight.

If the battery has sulfated plates from being recharged all the time it will drain like you say. How recent is it?? How recent is the issue??? I'd start with a battery drain test with a multimeter if u have one.

Fat man. You need new battery cables.
The car wont start not because the battery is drained, but because the cables are damaged somewhere. I never figured out where. Next time the car doesnt start, wiggle the positive battery cable around.
It will start. This is what I dealt with, with that car for the past 2 years.
That battery is relatively new. It came out of my sisters Audi.

If you cable and body ground check doesn't work out, time to start pulling fuses (one by one/checking current across battery). Not fun trying to find those parasites.

If you ever take your battery in to have it "checked" and the machine says it's bad, have them put the new battery on the machine to test it before you buy it. What do you want to bet those machines say that *every* battery is bad?
