The easiest way to reach the drain hose on the 944 is to take the ash tray, stick shift and center console off. This is much easier than it sounds. You cannot reach the drain tube from underneath as it is hidden by a large aluminum cover (just above the drive shaft).
With the console removed, the 90 degree drain hose can be seen and worked on. Crud builds up in the drain box so spray inside and rinse often to really clean it.

Not possible to get at from the bottom unless the torque tube and cat converter are out

Once you get it cleaned out, I suggest taking your blower motor housing off and having a look in there. Mine had a nest in it with leaves and feathers and fur and sticks.

Default GOT IT!

I was able to see it from the passenger footwell, just ahead of where the console ends. I was able to squeeze it with my fingers and a torrent of water came out. The pictures didn't seem to upload.

I will try to attach the pic I took last night.

The picture is too dark to actually see the drain tube, but that is where it is, just ahead of the console. Second Pic shows some of the giant puddle before it drained out the garage door. And yes, you can't get it from the bottom, Prop shaft and heat shields are in the way, not even a small chance from down there.

Thanks 968, guess I'll try poking around down there before I take out the console.

Nice lift.

There could be one more aspect to the "smelly" problem. The collector/drain box has a white styrafoam lining. Mine had a crack in the lining which let water collect, grow old and moldy and eventually smelled like a mouse had crawlled in and died. In this case, you will need to tear the whole darn dash and heater box apart to clean it. It is a real pain but short of a bleach soak (to get under the lining) it may be all that you can do

Try renting an ozone generator. Those are used to kill mold in basements and neutralize smoke odors after a fire. Try a rental center that rents tools and misc. things. Some bigger automotive detailing shops have them. I do some detailing and eventually want to buy one, but the better ones cost $500+
