Talking

Because we love our cars. I haven't named my car, but "I love you, Mike" wouldn't work for me. But, <a href="http://www.claudiaschiffer.org/" target="_blank">"Claudia"</a> might.

You know if you look at a 944 from above it is shaped like a woman.

Wade does call his car the "Tigerlady".

Because no man wants to say, "I'm going to go drive John."

triscadek.....these cars ARE exactly like my crazy girlfriends. Perhaps the pattern of not knowing when something is going to go bad on me is something I like enough to keep surrounding myself with such things. The car and girls give me the exact same feelings when I'm around them (what does that say about these girls....or the car, for that matter??). You hit the nail on the head with your description! When things are good, they are very, very, very good - but suddenly it can all go bad!

Why do we call our cars girl names? Because guys like cars - guys like girls......simple as that in my opinion.

Cool

Because they are shaped like a beautiful woman and almost as fun to ride! <img border="0" alt="[icon107]" title="" src="graemlins/icon107.gif" />

Mine is called "The Red Car".

No connotations there.

It reminds me of a quote from Fleet Admiral Chester Nimitz:

"A ship is always referred to as 'she' because it costs so much to keep one in paint and powder"

Of course, I don't know what he means and I refuse to try to interpret that sentence (for my own well-being) <img border="0" title="" alt="[Wink]" src="wink.gif" /> .

There's the shape reason already mentioned, but I think the most compelling reason is if you're going to anthropomorphize it the choices are male and female.
How many guys would feel comfortable talking about getting into, driving, working on, caressing, etc. a male object?
We're too homophobic for that.

It's not the first time I've been completely coated in oil. Cars and women...go figure.

Ag951, I bet that is the closest to the actual unspoken truth we shall ever see! Thanks!

Um...what does that make me!??
