Ok, well I haven't bothered reading the whole thread, but I think I get the basic idea of it.

Being 17, and friends with some people in a more "ricing" type crowd (Celica, Integra, hell I drive an Eclipse right now) I have been around some people who do in fact, street race. I'm not going to say I've never revved at a friend at 1 am at a deserted street light and gunned it.... but we always stop at reasonable speeds, speeds we wouldnt get our liscences taken away for anyway (say 80 in a 55). What I don't think is good, is when people start endangering others. Racing around others is moronic and selfish. Take it to the track if there are other people around. I generally have the patience to ignore people that want to race me, and I won't even bother when I get a 944

What a new concept: instead of starting a thread on street racing, just bring up an old one!

My views on this subject have not changed since last I got off my soapbox.

i'm 17, i think street racing is dangerous, but don't say you don't do it or have never done it. you older guys used to do it when you were young like us, so shutup, and be honest. i don't go out specifically to street race, but if i see someone and end up gunning it for a sec, then o well.

Okay, This sucks. I did not revive this thread so I'm not taking the blame. Someone else posted to this this morning which is why responded that way. Can we delete our posts now??? I look like a big fat liar now don't I?

JohnD, Please delete this thread, too many people want to kill each other over it.

I'm 18 and I can honestly say that I've never street raced and never plan on participating in a street race. If I wanted to put my driving abilities or my car's abilities to the test, I would go to the track. On Saturday when I was driving home from my brother's house, I saw two ricers street racing on a crowded highway in Atlanta. One of these idiots was passing in the far right lane cutting off everyone in his path. If I had a cell-phone handy I would have loved to call the police on them but unfortunately Idid not have the cell phone handy.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but wasn't street racing INVENTED by the "old people"? Or course I am referring to the 50's era (Grease, Rebel w/out a Cause)...that generation which is now all grown up.

You ask me, kids these days are just following your footsteps. At least nowadays they wear seat belts.
