What's with the spare tire in the back seat of that 911?

Eric ("Stuttgart" on the 911 forum) is selling his old cookie cutters from his 1983 944, he brought them into work to ship them. It was too nice of a day here to drive the "daily driver", so the 911 pulled truck duty....

That is the only place to carry a tire in a 911. If he inflated the spare and used it and did not deflate it, it will not fit in the forward trunk. Also of you use the spare the only place to put the tire to be repaired is inside the car.
