I just bought a CDR 220 and an adapter for my 944, but it doesn't fit in my stock chasis. I know a few of you have done this, so I thought I'd see if anyone knew where I could get one. Also I need an antenna adapter? I have the actual radio adapter from SW stereo, but found I also need one to make the antenna plug in.
Thanks in advance for any help,
Ashley

I did not need the chasis for mine. You can go without it. It just does not lock in. Most of the CDR's you get off ebay do not come with the chasis. And yeah you need the adapter I still need to get one too.

I was told there was no chassis for the CDR-220.
Also, my antenna plugs into mine just fine (I guess I got lucky).
On a side note, does anyone have an owner's manual for a CDR-220 that they could scan for me and email?

The cool thng about the CDR-220 is that it upgrades your stereo in a way that is totally factory. The unit itself is labelled Porsche, and the display says Porsche when it's turned on. Just a nice way to modernize your 944 without abandoning the factory appearance.

I totally agree with all your points it is the factory look that appeals to me. I hate the look of after market stereo's the look either cheap or from a different planet! Maybe that is the same thing.

Ok, but if I just slide it in there, how will I secure it? Does it not move around alot, and drop down in the back, messing up the angle of the screen and such??
Thanks again,
Ashley

It slides in there VERY secure I had to actually bend the metal prongs that stick out in the back of the inside of the console. It is snug and takes a little streangth to pull back out. The angle of the screen will be bad no matter what. The only fix is to purchase an optional grey screen that does not have this problem($150). If you search the board you can find other threads about this problem. At night it is NO problem you can see the screen fine. It is in the day is when you have to move forward and look down. I plan on buying the optional screen. It has been fine thus far.
