I know what you mean. I just got off the McMaster site and ordered about $40 worth of clamps in different sizes. Where possible I'm using the lined clamps that won't gouge the hose.

Since I'm in northeast Ohio I'm not going to be in a hurry at this point to get things reassembled. While I have my intake off I'm just going to thoroughly inspect and clean things. I plan to paint or powdercoat the intake manifold, get the fuel injectors cleaned, and generally look for problems, etc.

I know someone posted a procedure for cleaning the idle control valve, and I plan to look that up and put it to use.

I also noticed there's an unused threaded hole on the block, under the manifold. A few weeks ago I added an aux ground wire to the rear engine lift point, but I think I'll relocate it directly to the block.

Good luck with your project.

Ron

Anybody have the part # for the venturi tube? And what's a venturi tube anyway? I remember the prof talking about it in Fluid Dynamics, but I wasn't paying attention

The venturi tube is actually a one way valve. It prevents boost from going to the brake booster.

Can anyone tell me how much that kit is from 944online, and what part numbers it comes with? If not I suppose I could just email them directly... . But that just seems like a lot more work than asking you guys. Thanks.
Patrick
The reason I ask is that I have been pricing them out indivdually and they get pretty expensive...I mean $25.70 for a little 5 inch hose.

Thanks for telling me which numbers. Seems the kit has most of what I want, a few I don't, and missing a few I need. Oh well.

But in case anyone is curious, dealer prices on the following numbers are.
#11-$41.16 #13-$19.32 #14-$25.49 #15-$10.24
#16-$28.27 #17-$17.63 #19-$10.11

I have the prices on a lot of the others, but they aren't in front of me...so those hoses alone add up to, $152.22, and don't include, #18,29,30,31. Then again that doesn't include the neato 15% PCA discount...but either way, I wonder how much more it costs to buy them individually than just getting the kit through 944online. Maybe I should just shoot 944online an email and see for sure. But thanks for the help so far.

I paid $185 plus shipping for the intake hose kit and 4 intake gaskets from 944online.com

I bought the vacuum 4mm tubing from the McMaster catalog. I got Teflon tubing, should outlast the car.

Except for forgeting that #$%@ restrictor the whole replacement job probally took me 6 or 7 hours, ( I know I'm slow) it was pretty easy though.
I had the same sputtering/misfiring thing that Ron has, and now its all GONE!!!
My car feel tighter than ever! I can be going 20 or so in first, stomp on it and leave rubber till 3rd gear! WOOHOO!!

Thanks Jason, that is exactly what I was looking for. I guess I might as well buy them individually and get the ones I need. No use wasting money on extra hoses...plus I need to use my PCA certificate anyway. Thanks again.
