Default staggered rims

I'm thinking about running late offset 225/50/15 front and 245/50/16 on the rear.

YES...15's on the front and 16's on the rear. (15x7 front, 16x8 rear all phonedials)

Anyone ever tried this staggered setup?
Before the bashing begins, I've run staggered sizes on lots of cars. 17's and 19's on corvettes, etc. I have determined these sizes have a 1.8" overall height difference. I'm going for a taller rear...lower front stance. I think the 944 stock is squatty in the rear. Alternatively, I could run the stock 215/60/15's on the front and only have .6" overall height difference, but I don't like the taller sidewall on the stock 60's.

I'm looking for comments on the oversteer, understeer and balance so please be open minded.

Your thoughts??

Your car already understeers, and that will exaggerate it with more rear grip. It could also have an effect on gearing depending on what size tires you run, but that should be easy enough to work around. Personally if you are doing this because you dont like the ride height, youd be better off getting new springs to lower the front or raising the rear with the eccentric.

If you do that, 245/45/16 would be a better choice from a gearing perspective. As far as balance... increasing rake should increase oversteer, and increasing rear tire width should reduce it. It would be very difficult to give you an accurate prediction.

Corvettes, NSXs, etc come with staggered wheels and they're designed for that. You could do it on your 944 but it would upset the balance like you said. FYI, if you have an early car, changing the front tire height will throw off your speedo, while if you have a late car, changing the rear tire height will throw off the speedo.

It is a pretty severe rake. Almost 2 inches. I could continue to run the 215/60/15's up front and the 245/50/16's in the rear and only have a .6" rake. The tradeoff on the 15's is the taller sidewall for the smaller rim.

Doing it because I have 2, 16x8 rims for the rear. Eventually will change the whole car over to 16's, but need to make the transition slowly with current economics.

Reference gearing issues:
stock overall tire height on a 215/60/15 is 25.2"
overall tire height on 225/55/16 is 25.8"
overall tire height on 245/50/16 is 25.8"

Thanks for the feedback!
