I believe in some classes (preservation, I think) at the Porsche Parade a Certificate of Authenticity is required. So originality can be verified. It has VIN, engine and transmission #, paint color/code, and interior colors and type, options. It may also have MSRP and date of manufacture.

This is perhaps more valuable for a 40-year old original concours 356 or 911 or as a restoration guide than for a 16 year old 944 race car.

Jonas, I had mine laminated to keep it from yellowing and falling apart. It is a good idea to preserve it, and it allows you to display it with the car without worrying about something happening to it. I guess if you don't have your original window sticker, these COA's are the only thing similar and your last resort, so sorry about coming across so harshly guys. Bad day at work today, that's where I posted from. I'm home and mellow now.

You also get a copy of your Kardex which will give you all of your options. While you can call and get this info from PCNA for a USA model, it doesnt help if you have a ROW model.

I got mine when they were 30bucks. An option listed is "crusie control." What a bargain. Just look at the option code card and that will have the same info. It's like they are selling you the same thing twice.
