Post Help, noisy Shocks???

Hey guys,

Whenever I get out of my car, and come out of my drivway, I notice a creeking/skeetching sound, comming from my shocks. How can I fix this. Lube possibly?

Are you sure it's the shocks? Most creaking noises come from bushings. Do you have any modifications - like Poly or Delrin bushings?

If it is the shocks, you could try some oil at the input seal, but the noise may be coming from within.

I can sometimes find squeaks by lifting the vehicle and quickly compressing the suspension using a large pry bar between the floor and a tire. Rear stabilizer bushings are notorious for squeaks. Spray a little silicone on some of the suspect bushings to see if that helps - basically give the whole suspension a good once-over.

Good Luck!

this happened to my friends grand am and it was the control arms. on 944s they usually make more of a clanking sound but check them anyways, just grab it and wiggle it up and down, it SHOULD NOT move. If its got some play then its bad..

Christian,

I had the same problem on my '87 944. I'd agree with Andre, when my car had this problem, it ended up being the controll arms. In the end, I had to get them rebuilt. Good luck.

Guys,

I pout the car in the old lift, and sprayed all the bushings with silicon grease. Let it sit, and put it down, after driving for a few minutes it was fine. Quiet and everything.
