Has anyone ever shipped a car to Germany before. How much did it cost? Was it a real PITA? How about getting it Legal in Germany?
TIA

I just shipped my 944S2 cabrio to Europe from Newark, NJ. I haven't taken delivery yet, but it should get there before I do, next week.
It cost $600 plus 1.5% of the car's value as insurance. Takes about 2 weeks to get there. There are two main ways of shipping: roll-on/roll-off, and in a container. Mine shipped in a container. Hopefully it will arrive in perfect condition...
I've also imported a car from a non-EC country into the EC and that WAS something of a PITA due to all the necessary paperwork to get it registered, but it was worth it to me because of the rarity of the model (951S cabrio).
There are many nice 944 cars in Germany at better prices than in the U.S. Only reason I shipped my S2 is because it's a cabrio and I have quite a bit invested in it.

Uh yeah, getting a car up to par in the german system is a pain in the ***. I hope you haven't made any mods!!! They go through it with a fine tooth comb and tax you for everything that isn't stock. Unless the car holds some sort of sentimental value, there are lots of 944s here, and lots of them are very nice. It isn't hard to locate one for a price much lower than what you will find in the states.

There goes Luis, bragging about owning a 951S cabrio again
. Sorry, but I have been really jealous ever since I saw a picture of it (on the Boxster forum, I think). It really is a gorgeous car. Congratulations.
