Default Track prepping a 944S2. Ok...what about the "goo?"

I have heard of the "dry ice" method to get rid of the tar pads on the floor pan / tunnel. Has anyone done this? Photos available?

Also, I bought some Xylene to aid in the removal of the remaining "goo." AHs anyone tried anything else? Any input would be VERY appreciated.

Thanks...

C.

Why did you buy a super clean car to gut it? That doesn't make whole a lot of sense...

I've been using Xylene. Ya your are going to want to wear gloves and be in a well ventilated area. It works quite well, you put a generous amount on the area, let it soak, then wipe up/scratch off.

I saw in the Snap-On catalog a listing for mastic removal tools, used on aircraft primarily.

I used this http://coreproductsco.com/index.php/unbelievable_un-goo for the adhesive. The spray bottle is nice for applying to the vertical surfaces. It doesn't dry up, so spray an area several hours before you intend to work on it (even let it soak overnight) and let it do it's thing. Mineral spirits worked well for any remaining adhesive and tar residue.

Still a long and tedious job, no matter what you use.
