Question Suspension choices ?

Now that I'm done with the motor work, I want to at least replace all the suspension components as they are stock original equipment.
I need some feedback on what to buy and where. Cost is a consideration so no exotic setups OK. I will be useing this car mostly for daily driving and may want to autocross once in awhile.
Please list all the parts I would/should need.
Thanks

Tim

I can get you into a set of threaded bilstein motorsport units front and rear with springs for less than 1500.00.........................

you can get these in 2 or 3 different valvings

we also have set of camber plates for 290.00
If you where looking to make quike camber change.............................But in your case i would just stick with the stock top mounts.......

In just one word WOW. I have some saving to do. Thank you for the reality check, The choices are great.
If I went to the HR 1 package, would I have to modify the strut mounting area? In the pix there are 8 bolts for each support and I only have 4.

What they have neglected to tell you is that BOTH are OVERKILL for the uses you have stated. I expect the shameless sales pitch (for parts you don't need) from Huntley (and with the latest round from him and Anderson I'm sure they have both noticed their phones are ringing less) but I really didn't expect it from Larry Parker. Give me a friggin break, coilovers all around (height adjustible, no less) with camber plates for a street car/daily driver that might see the occasional autocross?!?

Are you both off your rockers? How do your suggestions posibly fit what he's asking for?

A set of Koni yellows would be a good place to start, as would upgrading the sway bars. for the uses you have stated, you could go to stiffer springs but that is the last step, and you will not want to go too much stiffer for everyday use.
I went with Turbo S sways from a dismantler but weltmeisters or 968 MO30 bars are even better if $$$ allow. The Konis are a little better than stock and are adjustible so they should suit your needs. My car is driven daily and I'm fairly competitive at autocross in stock class, check my sig for mods.

I have the HR stage I package on my street car that I time trial with, and it really isn't too bad for the street. The good thing is that I won't have to upgrade... ever (well, unless the car becomes a race car, in which case it'll get more spring.) My point is, if you're going to do the suspension, ditch the torsion bars, go to coil overs, perhaps with somewhat soft springs for street/AX use, and call it a day. In all honesty, the car is a COMPLETELY new car once you put coil overs on.

Now, you don't need to spend $2K+ for 1, 2, 3 way adjustable stuff... THAT would be definate overkill for a street car. Changing the ride height is nice (lower 951s do look pretty rad, wouldn't you agree?). Being able to adjust your camber/caster is nice.

Anyway, I'm just rambling, but I like having coil overs, and I wouldn't even consider going back (even though my springs are just a smidge stiff for the street (400 front, 600 rear))

And that reminds me... don't try to adjust the ride height without jacking the car up (I spent over 30 minutes trying to raise one side... only moved it up about 1/16th of an inch)

Oh yeah... I forgot to mention.. the 8 bolts on the camber plates... 4 bolts to attach to the chasis (just like stock), and 4 bolts to adjust camber. You'll need an allen wrench to make adjustments (since the bolts are allenheads). Ok, enough from me for one night...

Holy Sheiss that is some serious suspension for the occasional Auto-X race

Today is your lucky day because I am selling the suspension that I currently have in my '85 844

250lb Welmeister front springs
28mm rear torsion bars
Turbo S sway bars

I am selling all of the above for $500, that includes shipping. Go and buy a set of Koni Yellows to add to it and you have one great handling street car.

I personally wouldn't put race car dollars into my suspension if I were only driving it at the occasional Auto-X
