Yup.. it's Ok to cry.. I did after I watched my car burn. As you go along with the insurance squabble, the pain will go away and you can redirect it to the agent.

Bottom line, there are many more Porsches, but not another you.

Good luck in the hunt for your next baby.

"and in an airbag equipped car I would have been whacked up pretty good by the airbags."

I was under the impression that all 944's '88 and on had airbags as standard. Or did you have an aftermarket steering wheel?

This only applies to U.S. spec cars. My 951S cabrio is a Euro spec 1991 model with no airbags, whereas my U.S. spec S2 cabrio is a 1990 with dual airbags.

That sucks. Looks like a total to me too.

I'd cry a bit if my car took a fall like that. Doesn't hurt anything to cry once in awhile.

Sorry to hear about your car, I feel like one of "our own" has passed away...........
How does the insurance system worked there? Do they do a straight replacement? Or do you get cash in hand? Why do you have to wait until the end of January? Any thoughts on what you will replace it with? Maybe if you start looking for your new "girl" now, it will help ease the pain, you can never start to look to soon, especially if you want to find a nice example. What year, model, color etc are you hoping to locate?

They either repair the car or give cash in hand for an estimated market value. Fortunately for me there are a few S2:s for sale in Sweden and they are descently priced so if I get that value I won't lose to much money.

The replacement will firstly be something cheap that runs and gets me to and from work. Then I'll start looking for a late 951 in excellent condition or a 928 GT or GTS.
I bought my S2 for a pretty low price since it needed brakes, interior detailing, sunroof and paint. Did all that and added a nice set of rims and new tires. Upgraded the chassis with yellow Konis and H&R springs.

Next (this) time I'll give myself time to find a car where the PO is a freak like me and already has taken care of the upgrades... The plan wasn't exactly to buy the car, dump 50% of its purchase price in it again and then crash it..

Obviously...sorry for your loss...definetely sucks a lot...but while you had a huge attachment to it like we all do, it is in the end just a car.
SO, take those rims, shocks and springs off your S2 and throw them on whatever new 944 you get. If you go with the 928, sell the goodies.
