I am prepared to wait for the panels as long as i have to...just had to be first in line..
Hey Bud,

No problem. The door panels are damn near perfect. Send me a PM of what you are looking for and I'll do my best. I'll starting the interior tear down pretty soon.

The seats are ok. There is a couple slight tears and the driver's side has some wear. Overall, about a 6/7 out of 10. If you still want them, I'll give you a smokin deal.

Hey Chad,

Your on this forum too??? lol
I noticed on the 996 forum that you sold your white beauty but by the looks of the S2 your back in the marque. I will be looking forward on your online documentation to turning this S@ into a track car.

Welcome back

Chad, I didn't realize you sold your 996. I remember you from the 996 forum when I still had my 02 Cab. This is an odd trend...selling 996s and ending up in a 944.

Reminder - this car has 147,000 miles on it. It's PERFECT for the track.

(Muahahahahahahahahah!!)

Meh - I looped the 996 at the track a few months ago and realized I wanted to simplify and build a safer dedicated toy for the track. I have been amping up my levels at the track as of late. Do that in a proper track car makes more sense.

Besides, my 996 was WAAAYYYY to nice to trash at the track.

Hey Chad,

Good to see another local S2 being track prepped. Yours looks really reallllly nice. My Dad tracks an S2 and is just now getting it back into shape (rod bearings, seals, frame work) after three seasons of club racing. You should look for him at local NASA 944 cup races and PCA DE's. He's got a black S2 #77. His started exactly the way yours looks to be set up and he took it to full club racing specs over the past 6 years or so. Feel free to shoot him a PM, his name on here is DB944. I'm sure he'd be happy to help you get it set up right. Will you be doing most of the prep work yourself?

Hi Ian,

Thanks. I will do just that.

And yep...I plan on doing 90%+ of the work on the car. Big, big stuff will be done by J3. I am debating on what to do with the motor. Full refresh or partial. The maintenance has been kept up pretty well on the car. Once I dive into it, I'll know more.

Would also be interested in the clock....

Joe

You could probably get away with a partial refresh. Oil seals and rod bearings are a must with that many miles on the motor, don't care how clean it is. Make sure your oil pan is baffled well while you're in there. PCA rules won't let you fool around much with the motor, but you'll see good results with a 4 into 1 race header and 3 inches all the way back after that. You'll get more high rpm power which is good for the track.

I've got a homemade 2.5 inch test pipe sitting in the attic. I had it on my old S and it was too loud for the street. It will fit your S2 with stock headers and catback. You could do a cone air filter behind your header panel for giggles. Other than that, just enjoy your low end torque while you blow the doors off stock 951's exiting corners (before they spool, haha).

Camber plates, rear coilovers (with correct torsion bar adjustment), and Racer's edge delrin bushings are also awesome with 968 M030 sways. Get a solid tranny mount, but keep the OEM motor mounts unless you just want to rattle your teeth out. Dad's OEM tranny mount disintegrated on the track and caused the whole transaxle to slide out mid-corner and slashed the tires on the inner wheel well!

944s are just easier to drive to the limit - linear powerband (well maybe not the Turbos) but also with the S2 you get the turbo's aero shape, suspension, brakes, and the S2 adds the big 3.0 16v engine with such a broad powerband that just pulls from from 2k to redline.
