Post grind in second gear

hey guys, here the situation. My 944 84' just had a used tranny installed after my other one copped out on me. And as soon as i started driving it, second gear would grind every time i switched gears from 1st-2nd. Every time. After a day i took it back to the shop and had one of the guys test drive it. The tranny didnt make one single grind! He said the tranny was sitting for a while and it would take a little time for the gears and synchros to break themselves in again. So then i drove it and not a peep. I parked it, then the next morning same thing. Then i noticed it. The gear started to grind every time when i shifted to second in the beginning. Then it did the first half of the day when i brought to my mechanic. So i thought maybe it only does that now till the car warms up. I was right. Now, two weeks later after having the other tranny installed it only grinds from first to second the very first time that i shift the car. Only the very first time, all the other times are smooth especially when the car is warm. My buddy said the tranny might not have enough gear oil in it because when it gets hot the oil rises. Is this true? Oh, and it will only grind on the first shift of the morning if the shift is over like 3200 rpm. What do you guys think? Bad synchro? or not enough oil?
thanx

I recommend topping off the gear oil or perhaps changing it. THEN worry about they synchro.

I think the one to two shift grind is a common issue. Mine does it sometimes. Some swear by Redline or swepco and say it solves it.

Hmm actually. Since I changed the clutch and put in Swepco gear oil, I have not noticed mine doing this at all. Must have put the Swepco in a year or so ago...
