Post EGT sender mounting questions

I searched the old threads for this topic. Which exhaust runner is the hottest? I've seen it listed as the two centers or #4. Which is correct? Can you drill into the exhaust runner with the header on the car? It seems that metal drilling fragments could go into an otherwise perfectly good turbo. This would be bad. Is there a way to do this without removing the header or the turbo? I've already ordered the gauge, but would rather pay a restocking fee than tear my car apart again. Do I even need the EGT gauge? I'm installing the 2 gauge A-pillar gauge pod, the boost gauge should be in tomorrow. I already have a fuel pressure gauge. I'm not racing, I just want a fast car and I want to monitor what's going on. My only mods will be a Bursch 2.5" test pipe and GURU chips with 3 bar FPR and Reliaboost. Thanks.

Arne.

I wouldn't risk doing it with the maifold on the car. I believe you are correct that #4 is the hottest running cylider on a lot of cars.

THe twist on the drill will pull most of the metal up as you drill into the part. I would think that a Q-tip coated with grease inserted into the hole would pick up the majority of the fragments that fell through.. Just a suggestion.

I thought about this once. It might be possible to remove the wastegate and hook a shop vac up at that point. Godd chance it would get most of the large stuff.
