How often do you change your oil?

I've been changing my oil annually (Mobil 1 15w-50, ~5000 miles/year) although since I'm tracking the car now, I change it for those days, too.

I run 15W50 Mobile One and change it every 1000 miles.
Well, that's because that's how many miles my car has been driven each year for the past two years and I feel obligated to change it at least once a year in November before it goes down for an extended winter's nap.

my car has 200,000 miles on it.
I have had it since it had 60,000 miles
I have changed the oil maybe 6 times
the transmission oil has never been changed as far as i know

OMG, every 5k km's is total overkill.
I've read that the only real reason you should change your oil is when the corrosion inhibitors are used up, which might happen once every 100k km's or even longer!........
The author of the site himself has driven his car over 300k km's (nearly 200k miles) on the SAME oil, and not even a filter change. .........
I'm actually inclined to give it a try........

Let us know how that works out for you, M'kay?
My uncle does the same thing.
Or used to, at least. Untill his engine siezed last year.
He tore it down and discovered the insides to be pretty much a solid mass of goo.
Oil sludge.

Every October and every May, Mobil 1 so mileage isn't a big deal. Probably 5000 miles. It used to be dictated by temperature and viscosity (0W40 winter, 15W50 in summer), but with fresh rod bearings (broken in with 20W-50) and a desire to get another MPG, I put in 0W-40 for now. It's constant 2800 RPM down the highway, so oil pressure and temps are fine.
