Default AC compressor clutch not engaging - post charge

I just charged my AC in my '87 NA. The system worked fine for one day. Previous to the charging, the system held 134-A, so I know I am not dealing with leak down. I jumped the pressure switch to see if the clutch would engage and it doesn'tI guess the next best thing to check is the coil on the compressor clutch itself. Is it best to put an ohmeter on the fan clutch down at the compressor, or is there a remote place to check if the compressor clutch coil is good? If the compressor clutch coil tests good, what else could prevent the clutch from engaging considering the jumper bypasses the pressure switch.

Thanks

the ac clutch is just an electro magnet...they do go bad but not often...usually they melt.

run a hot and ground straight from the battery to test.

DON'T rule out a leak!!

Check the wires by the compressor where they connect or are supported. They may be frayed or broken. Look close, the covering may look OK but the wire may be "open" inside.

Mike
