16" Rims
I went to go look at a 944 today and the rims on it look like 6 x 16" Phone Dials. The rubber that was on it was 205/50-16 and 225/50-16 and they looked way to large for the rim. also there was a lot of space from the fender to the rim. I bought the car just so I can put the rims on my 924S. Did the 924S have optional 16"? if so what was the tire size?

depends on the offset of the rim
if you have late offset rims, 16x7 front and 16x8 rear fit fine. You might be able to go a little wider, but I doubt it...stock for the optional 16" wheels was (I believe) 16x6" front and 16x7" rear (they weren't phone dials)

According to the PET parts manual, 6x16 all around were an optional wheel size for the 924S (also 7x15 rears). I was going to put some 7x16 and 8x16 wheels with 205/55/16 and 225/50/16 tires on mine before it was wrecked, but I had to look for some narrow 225s to make sure they would fit. The worn out 225 tires that came on the wheels rubbed.
