pulley removal
Does anyone have any advice on removing the accessory pulley connected to the crankshaft. I have been trying for the past to weeks to remove the bolt holding the pulley in but have had no success. I've tried a breaker bar and have even removed the radiator with hopes of using my impact wrench; there is still not enough clearance with the air conditioner condensor in place. While looking at the engine from the front, I rotate it counter clockwise to remove the bolt, is that correct? Will a air rachet with 70 ft. lbs of torque be able to remove it. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

a really big breaker bar.
if you are talking about the big 34=/- mm bolt, it is torqued to about 155 ftlb. what you need is a flywheel lock. you have to remove the starter, two 17mm bolts. you put the lock in place of the starter. This will lock the flywheel so you get bolt out. you can get the tool from most of the mail order places. then get a big breaker bar, ie a piece of a metal pipe and pull hard.
its not esay, I broke two different breaker bars doing this. get the biggest baddest breaker bar you can find, in other words tool shop that works on ships would be a good place to start looking for a breaker bar. . but really, it can be done, it just isn't that enjoyable.

this is a image of the tools I used. the black thing is the flywheel lock that I was talking about. I want to say, its about $20-30. I also used a craftsman breaker bar, with a 6' piece of steel pipe to get the torque needed.
good luck,

Thanks for the advice. I've been trying a breaker bar that is the same size of yours but have had no success. I found a hollow metal tube from a weight lifting set that I will use to get more leverage. I've been able to bend the breaker bar pretty far but I haven't broken one yet.
