Post Who Is checking out the new Bond tonight?

You saw the trailers, An Aston Martin Vanquish, Jags and Ferraris. there has got to be a porsche in there somewhere! I already have my tickets for the 9:45 showing.

I think the whole Bond franchise is nothing more than a corporate ***** at this point. Between their making the bond girl "a strong woman" and selling marketing rights to everything they can get their hands on, I just think it's fallen pretty far from the Connery days. I'll probably rent it, but I won't pay $10 to see it, plus the 15 minutes of commercials preceding it.

I would like to see it on the big screen, but I object. Let us know how it is though.

The thing premiered in Germany tonight too I think. I saw something on TV where they had the actual Aston Martin there. The president of the company or someone important like that was supposed to drive off with it, didn't make the turn and ran into a wall. Very slowly but it mustve been embarrassing.

judd,
I will be there tonight. Mostly because my GF really likes Pierce Brosnan I think he makes a good James Bond, but I am not a fan of Halle Berry(yeah, I know she is smokin' hot, but her redeeming qualities end there). For me, Roger Moore was the best Bond, but I am glad to see that James is back in a Brit car instead of a BMW.

Last summer when we were in Iceland we visited Jokulsarlon glacial lagoon... the guides there mentioned that a segment of the new Bond film was shot there (about 73 times). I predict there will be a high-speed motorboat chase past very blue icebergs in the film. Also a possibility Bond will drink a martini chilled with 15,000 year old ice. Let me know if I'm right. I might go and see the film just to see Jokulsarlon again.

Eddie,

What you have to realize is that when I was growing up, Moore was Bond in the theatrical releases--For Your Eyes Only, Moonraker, Live and Let Die, Octopussy--so, for me Moore WAS and IS James Bond. I put Connery second, with Brosnan third. Dalton and Lazenby--who cares??

No offense

I'm Scottish so I have to say Connery.
Or I'll be beaten with a Haggis when I go back home. <img src="graemlins/beerchug.gif" border="0" alt="[cheers]" />

sorry to burst your bubble, but aston-martin is now just another american peice of crap dung heap since it was acquired by ford. i imagine in a few years we will see something similar to what happened when gm bought amc... the "v2": vanquish body styling with a thunderbird frame, suspension, and powertrain.

I'm pretty sure there is a 996TT in the new Bond movie. From a quick preview I saw, it looks like it gets blown up. Now why the hell would anyone want to do that?

I'm going - 720 show - dinner at Outback - probably use the restroom a few times too

Looks fun. Sir Connery does it for me (uh, I mean, you know). The others were "too English" [though, that was probably the point]

"Looks like hes not gonna take that one!"

not bad overall, good stuff, although my back hurts from the crappy seats though. that made the whole experience suck.
