I once rebuild such a engine. The "Heco i Mehico block" was just terrible comparing to US made block, quality just sucks! I hope the quality of these Mexican PT Cruisers are close to US made ones.

I hope you are not implying that any PT has any quality regardless of where it was made. That pile of crap shakes and rattles from new and the two year old ones are a prime example of how poorly the new ones will hold up. You can put all the horsepower you want in it, even a 600hp V12 and I still would not even look at that junk heap.

Ok, for all you clowns that are taking shots... how many of you have actually driven one? How about driven one more than a 5 minute test drive? How about actually owning one and putting 30,000 miles on it?
From a family that drives nothing but Porsche and BMW, it was a nice addition to the lot. It's a great commuter car, rides very well (with springs and better dampers), no squeaks and rattles after 30,000 miles, and like the Mini, it has a selective market. Stock, they have no performance, but with some minor mods, it is a potent little car.
Just because you don't really like the style does not mean it is a POS. I don't like the looks of the new 7 series BMW's... but would I say they are ****... no.. I know better because I have personally sat in the drivers seat longer than a few minutes.

This post is a joke, right?? A Mexican made Chrysler product clown car versus a Porsche????? We all know why it is made in Mexico, don't we??? That is a very wise business place to make a car -especially a throw away Chrysler. I mean, Chrysler puts out recalls because DOORS don't close...
I still think this post is a joke - I wouldn't go above 70 mph in any Dodge product.

Ok, I'll jump into the fire here.
My wife has one. We bought one of the first batch made in early 2000. It just passed 36,000 miles with absolutely no squeaks, rattles, or any problems whatsoever. All I've had to do to it is oil changes and replace the lousy Goodyears it came with. For a family of 3 it's a versatile car that can haul alot of stuff easily. The wife wanted an SUV and this was a much better choice. You can't use a sports car for everything.

Hey Tool... no joke. And for recalls.. how about the recall on 996 wire harnesses because they catch fire? How about a pending recall on M3's because they scatter the bottom end of the motor on the highway? How about a throttle recall on C280 Benz because the ECU will not register more than 50% throttle acutation? High marquee vehicles with problems.... how about that?
Then again, I am sure you would be suprized when that little PT POS ripped all 3 of your cars a new ***. And no 70+ in a Dodge?? I have an '84 Daytona Turbo Z that would make you believe.
My my some "Porschephiles" have their nose way up in the air these days.

Hey kido - nothing personal, but just because your daddy bought one doesn't mean it is cool. I mean take a vote - it is a clown car. There is no doubt in my mind that my daughter would be embarrassed to ride in one, and she is only 3.
I have buying American cars and trucks for a long time and can say from experience (not second hand), that basically, they are junk. I have a new $38,000 pickup that pings on 87 - no excuse.
And I still think this post is a joke. I wonder how many clowns I could get in one of those.

This has nothing to do with my father, so no need to go there.
Since I am old enough to drive one, have enough expendable cash to buy one, and enough knowledge to make it fast, I think I should be able to comment on it first hand, rather than you guessing how it is.
If it is not your style, fine, but until your *** cheaks mold the drivers seat, hold your tounge.

Ok, Here are the facts, I have drove a Srt-4 for around an hour, This car is very similar if not identical everywere except the body as the PT cruiser turbo) The engine in the pt cruiser - SRT4 is way underrated at 215(crank). The 2.4L is good for 230wheelhp (yea thats like 260 crank). The srt-4 will run a 13.9 1/4mile and the 951 is around 14.3-4. Handling is quite diffrent because the problem is that the SRT-4 and the PT cruiser will understeer, They pick up the front inside tire and spin it in almost every turn causeing for huge powerloss. (not to mention treadloss). The other things are the brakes (though the SRT-4 posted a 125 stoping distance in magazines) It is far from that in real life. These "brakes that don't fade" (as I read in a magazine) Let me tell you something I never felt a brake pad with a soft bannana on it. but it felt like one was on the brake pedal after 30min of "HARD DRIVING" not to mention. All 4 brakes had large amounts of smoke coming off of them. I would no suggest over 120mph in a SRT-4 (witch is prolly better then the PT cruiser) Why? simply becasue the damn thing floats,It moves and wobbels. I think that you will notice this though is caused by the lack of underbody aero dynamics. (the 951 is so much better at speed)
Anyways thats my .02
Anyways thats my .02

Special Tool, just curious, if you've been buying American cars for years, and have found that they're basically junk, then why did you drop $38K on a brand new American pickup?

Ken - couple of reasons: I own a masonry company, and the US trucks are the only ones available here that wont fall apart and warp rotors when you put more than a bag of cement in them. As masochistic as it IS, I feel the need to support our industry.
Heavy US trucks are a different story, Macks and Internationals are beautiful.
