Myrtle 944

Any advice here would be appreciated. 1986 944. I've discovered that my cable coming from the motor does not seem proper. The PO replaced the motor (still have and seems fine) and the cable. Have the old cable, but looks nothing like the new one?? Seems to be improper fitting that attaches the cable to the front of the cable guide. Anyway, I can't seem to find any replacement parts for this cable. Just before the cable enters the motor assembly, it is split where a the black connector is. It has grooves where it looks like it should seat itself in the guide, but no way possible. Any ideas?
