Thumbs up dash treatments

My dash has some severe cracks to the point that the vinyl is flipping up at the cracks. I put lots of meguiars leather cleaner/conditioner on it and was amazed of the results. I had no idea how dry that vinyl material was until I started applying the meguiars it really soaked in fast. It has been about a month since and all the cracks have almost totally closed up!!!!
Anyway if yours is cracked try that stuff. My dash is still cracked but it looks 100% better.

self healing vinyl was an option for early p-cars. They developed artificial skin that they covered dash's with, hence the cracking when not properly lotioned.

i would assume that as it dried it shrank, and therefore cracked. If you added something to give it moisture it could conceivably expand and make the cracks much less noticeable. Just my guess. Cool if true.

Good to hear! Unfortunately my dash vinyl has shrunk and pulled away from the air vents up at the base of the windshield. I doubt anything would help aside from recovering it.

cegan09 is right on the money. Its absolutely not as a recover, but it is amazing how much better the dash looked. The vinyl softened and layed down at the cracks which reduced the crack width.
