Let's put this in one neat little package:

What you want are GENUINE Porsche motor mount with a Porsche part number which will cost in the neighborhood of $100 each

What you do not want will be described as German aftermarket, original supplier, OE type or some other description like that without actually stating they are original or genuine Porsche parts and they will cost between $60 and $80 or thereabouts. It doesn't matter if the are from Vertex, Paragon, Zims or whoever, they are junk!

The Super Mounts are too new and unproven and very expensive. Plus the lifetime warranty is just marketing hype. Solid mounts are supposed to be a no-no for the street. No isolation from engine vibration I guess.

Does that about sum it up?

P.S. I hear the aftermarket mounts are filled with custard, not raspberry as first thought.

I have the "supermounts" on my race car. They are awesome! I had the Kokeln solid mounts on there and the car vibrated the oilpan bolts off. Go with the supermounts.

Okay, now I am starting to feel like Manning. Sheesh fellas...how can such an astute group of Porsche enthusiasts so terribly complicate a very simple subject.

As Manning has already stated...buy the Porsche mounts. Again, it DOES NOT MATTER where you buy them just don't get the non-Porsche factory or genuine Porsche mounts. Got it? Most after market suppliers sell both the German aftermarket mounts and the Genuine Porsche mounts. Just buy the Genuine Porsche part and be done with it.

Furthermore, if you don't have a PCA certificate then Paragon is the cheapest source. IF you do have a PCA certificate then Sunset or Hendricks Porsche might be a more cost effective source.

Good luck. Are we finished with this thread now??

Tom,

Paragon sells both the aftermarket and genuine mounts. I know because I got both types from them, first the aftermarkets which failed, then the genuine which are good.

manning,
thanks, but i think max cleared it up for me.

sunset gets about 108 for each mount. i think paragon is a little less for the good ones - unless you have the coupon.

wow... I guess the aftermarket mounts that I got from Ian Riley are junk, eh? I have only put about 140k miles on em, and they are still working fine! lol

For what its worth, I do believe there are a LOT of folks that have had bad experiences with aftermarket, and at this point, I believe I probably just got lucky. Still, I wanted to post one good comment about aftermarket...

Regards,
