The Razor is right-on, specifications-wise. Too bad it's so bloody unattractive.
I like the Pontiac Solstice Coupe:

240hp front-mounted four, Corvette 6-speed in back, and sleek sheetmetal without the "retro-cues" crap! 2900lbs, though, can't have it all.

I understand that some of you guys can't see past how biased you are so you don't realize that Dodge has built a very affordable and very fast 4 door car. Yeah it is a Neon, yeah it isn't the best looking thing in the world. But hey, it is around 20k and has a good amount of power, seats 5 people and has a trunk. I would definatley have one as my daily driver.

I personally don't think it looks that bad, the concept was way too loud but the production car looks good.

Yeah, it's seriously not that bad. It's not meant to be a sports car but rather an econo car, so what if it's turbo'd and pretty quick stock? Non-German cars aren't crap just because you are so near sided that you wouldn't think of owning anything that didn't have a high class marque on the hood... you people really surprise me.

Also that 2.4 turbo motor will more than likely make more power in the next year than any of our p-cars......................And luke you can turn up the boost and the engine management issuse had to do with the fuel injectors keeping up with the turbo cause it spools so fast.......I have the dyno curves from a run of the car at our shop and the torque curve is flat and long!!!!! makes power super quick!!

I can't believe that you guys are comparing a 16 year old porsche to a brand new dodge. They are nothing alike. I want to see how the dodge will do in 16 years. I want to see if it'll have any status or have anything about it that the people will remember. It's a dodge with a turbo in it. Who cares! Just becuase it's faster, doesn't mean it's better. Sooner than you think you'll be seeing american rice joining the japanese rice at car shows (if that 's not already happening). I HATE most american cars for that reason. THey come out with a gigantic engine ( a million liters displacement) with 20 cylinders (not even making 50 hp per liter) and they think they have a sports car. Same thing goes for this "NEON"

That's not how it works.

i was actually thinking of getting the Turbo PT cruiser. What the heck, it can haul as much junk as I need, is cheap, reliable (has warranty), and there are tons of aftermarket parts for it. Call it rice, I call it cheap, something Porsche will never be.

Plus it is a great deal cheaper than my wifes MBZ so I can easily pick up another project and she wont care.

Put me on the "thumbs up for Dodge Neon" side... my fiancee has one, 2 door with the 16 valve engine, and all in all, its not a bad car. Would I trade any of my Porsches for one? Nope. But for what it is, it does very well, and has the potential to dust a lot of cars out there, including some of our beloved Porsches. True, you'd have to do some building on it, but they are cheap and plenty fast. Look at how popular they are in SCCA.

Another factor to mention... how many of you guys started out with Porsches as your first automotive love? I came up through street rodding and muscle cars, and a life long affliction of Harley lust before arriving at Porsche as my favored marquee.

The point is, a car enthusiast, no matter where they come from, is still a part of our family, and we should appreciate the fact that Dodge is doing something to bring enthusiasts into the fold and are supporting us as a group.

Regards, ...Scott (I'll put my Nomex on for this one! hehehe)

Clarification is probably needed... Dodge is supporting us as "car enthusiasts", not as "Porsche owners"...

Thumbs up

Well I'm going to join in with the "I don't care who makes it or what it looks like if it is cheap and makes more power than a 944 I want to take one for a test drive" crowd.

FWIW I wanted to look at a Mini also but with a six month waiting list and the price gouging plus the dealers have a attitude... fugetaboutit!

Speaking of attitude the Porsche snob vibe is coming on a little heavy here, remember some of the hardcore Porsche fans think the 944 is a "turd".

I agree. True the exterior is a bit overboard, but if you're looking for a good performance to cost ratio this Neon is awesome. Neons also handle very well and make great autocross cars.

I just can't believe the attitude from all those that were so fast to talk **** about it. I hope they aren't the 944 owners that gripe about not getting any respect from people.

seriously, the neon is an amazing car for the price. i'd drive one, i very well may own one. i'm willing to bet it will be faster than my 951, cheaper to maintain, more reliable, and probably drive better than my 951 with the old suspension i have.

there are more cars out there than ones that say porsche on them, stuff like this makes me ashamed to own a porsche and be associated with people who are so closed minded about other cars.
