I've got 225/50/15's also. At 40 mph on the speedo, I was clocked at 34 mph by one of those you are going this fast roadside speed displays. I'm guessing that 100 mph is about 85.

Yeah, I'm a little bothered that I'm racking up the miles faster but I do appreciate the higher final drive ratio. Cheapest way to get a little more kick in the pants.

Nice pic's and nice car Pete. I love the wheels personally although I'm sure they aren't much fun to keep clean. That's one of the best 944 interiors I believe I've seen.

Keep up the good work!

Waybrig, thanks for the compliments. I'm sure my car's not as nice as that cab of yours.
I love Fuch's wheels but after seeing all the nice 17's on all the 944's this weekend they look kinda dinky. They stay nice and clean as long as I don't use the brakes!

My car at 80mph is at 3500 rpms, did the 89 2.7l have different gearing then the previous models?

3000rpm = 70mph exactly in my car, tested it this afternoon. It "feels" about right though judging how I flow with traffic.

Guys,
Long time since this post was active.. but

Here calcuated Numbers

83-87 944, 0.730 5th gear , 3000 RPM = 79.1 MPH with 215/60 R15 tires

83-87 944 0.730 5th Gear , 3000 RPM = 75.0 MPH
with 225/50 R15 Tires
So there is 4 mph speed difference. So The speedo would read 4 mph high so Pete's speedo looks good.

FYI stock turbos run 78.7 MPH at 3000 RPM.

Never change those rims... they look perfect on the car... not to mention that of course they are gonna look small in the midst of all of the cayenne in the backround....
