Where does this go???
I found this rubber part under my '91 S2 today.
Anybody know where it goes???
The diameter is approximately 40mm
Any ideas would be appreciated.

When I went under the car, I saw what I thought was the inspection hole on the clutch bell housing but I could not get the plug in.
The surface of the bell housing is a complex curve (stepped) and I do not see how this rubber plug would stay in even if persuaded.
When looking in the inspection hole, I see the gear that the starter motor engages. The exhaust pipe runs below the opening.
Is this where the plug should go???
Can I assume this plug is not that important???
Thanks again!

PAsone, check the distributor and surrounding housing, you should see a gaping hole that looks like it should be plugged, by the way if you find another one, send it my way I need one.

Thanks for the suggestions but I could not find any hole near the distributor and I was not able to get it to fit in the hole on the bell housing.
Any other ideas or should I just wait for my next visit to the shop?
Is it a problem if the bell housing inspection hole does not have a plug?
