Post Need help ASAP.. part fitment question

I've determined the blower motor is bad on my 944.. I've tried Autozone, Napa, Foriegn Auto parts etc with no luck. There are a few on eBay right now that say they fit "86-88" and "85.5-91" but no mention of earlier cars.

My car was built in June of 82 and sold as a 1983 US model car. It has factory AC.

Will any year fit or do I need a specific unit for early cars?

Here's the links to a couple of the auctions..

Thanks for your help..

I don't think they will fit.

The early cars and late cars have different heating and cooling systems

The early cars have main blower for fresh air and heat under the hood in the center of the car. This looks like a barrel.

There is a seperate unit for AC that is under the dash at the passengers feet. I think they use the same blower, but I could be wrong.

The late cars us a single intergrated heating / AC unit and do not have barrel blower motor under the hood.

The 924S does have the same system as the early pre-85.5 cars. I do believe the part is an VW/Audi part just not sure off of what car.

Here are some pics of the under hood stuff..

Unfortunalty I do not have any good blower motor pics

Here the barrel style unit under the cover on the early cars

Here is what the 944 Turbo and 85.5 and later cars had

From the shape of the plasitc panels you can see a change was made in these cars. I also believe the hole in the car to recieve the air is a very different shape in early vs late cars also.

Thanks.. That top picture is definately what I have.

Time to start calling the used parts dealers..

EDIT. Found new unit..fits 924S, early 944s and some Audi 4000s. It was $125 but I don't plan on selling this car anytime soon. If I got a used one (for $65) I'd still be getting a part that is at least 17 years old.. I think the new one was the way to go.

Thanks again for the quick info.
