Default Adjusting rear konis

I got my rear Konis today. I have a question on adjusting them.

I removed the white dust cover but do I also have take out the sponge thingy ?

When compressing them which way is to make them softer ?

When turning will they stop when they reach Max soft ?

1) Yes, you have to take out the spongy thing.
2) If you have it standing right-side-up as it would be in the car, CCW (as viewed from above) is softer.
3) Yes.
