Sunroof recently got new weatherstripping wrapped on it. Problem is, now it won't seat itself properly down in the area it belongs in. The front and back are sealed down when it's in place, but the stripping on the sides is very very tight and the sides of the sunroof do not go down in the recess. Even if I put weight on it the sides will not completely go down because the seal is so bulky. Is there anything I can do to fix this? I'm tempted to put the old back on b/c at least it sat down how it should.

Did you get anywhere with this ?
Found your post whilst searching for exactly the same probelm.
I ordered the wrong seal for my early '86 Turbo and wonder if that is the reason.
Not sure what the difference might be, but my roof seems so tight that the motor may not seal it properly.

I thought I had the same problem when I had my car repainted. The painter installed it backwards. The felt goes on the outside and the rubber goes inside. When he had it backwards the sunroof would not go down all the way as soon as I turned it around everything is fine.

I bought a new gasket and installed it correctly and it wouldn't sit down flush anymore but it didn't leak anymore so I left it. It was like maybe a 1/4" from flush.
