Default Stiff (new) steering wheel

I fitted a Momo steering wheel last night, replacing the original '88 airbag version. The steering is really stiff to the point where it won't center. I pulled out the multi switch gadget and torqued the nut up to 50Nm (as recommended). Any ideas as to what I've done wrong? If I leave it like this I'll end up with forearms like Popeye.

Did you use the correct hub adapter?

I used a 7004 for 944s late 85 onwards. BTW looks like our cars are twins!

Is your car Silver Rose? It doesn't look so in your avatar (if that is your car). Throw up some pics!

Silver Rose it is. The PO bought the car in Texas and brought it back to OZ with him. I'll post some pics over the weekend.

Lets hear it for the silver roses!

Sounds like you've somehow created a binding issue when you bolted the hub onto the steering shaft. Take it back apart and see if you can find where it's rubbing.

Fixed it! The adapter was binding on the plastic cover. I didn't notice it in the dark. I cut the hole larger and the car is back to it's twitchy self again.
