Post Snow Chains

Hi,

Any suggestions for putting snow chains on a 944? From the looks of it, there's not much space between the tires and fenders (especially up front), so maybe the chains would scrape the fenders. I'd be loading the car down with 2 people and stuffing the back full of winter gear, so the back would be riding low. I have an 86 NA with phone dial wheels and P225/60R15's on all 4 corners. If the style or brand of chains matters, are there any specific recommendations?

Thanks,
Paul

According to Porsche these are the chains you need to get Porsche Part Number 911 361 918 00 which will fit 225/50 VR 16. Not sure what the difference is between 225/50 VR 16 and the P225/60R15's but they may work.

Part number 911 361 909 00 will fit 185/70 R 15, 205/55 R 16 and 215/60 R 15.

Not much help but anything helps.

I've used cable chains on the rear of my '83 with the same size tires. No point using them on the front, of course. They worked fine, plenty of clearance.

I have a new set of tire chains on ebay that will fit. They cost $75 new. My starting price is $25. Check it out at: http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=1871473658&ssPageName=ADME:B S:US:3

Sorry I guess they won't fit your tire size. 205-15 is the largest 15" tire they'll fit.
