For the record, not all newer cars have auto locks

In the process of tearing apart my door last night to stick in some dynamat and fix my window motor, I decided to look to see what the deal was with my non-working auto locks (I had been told that the locks should automatically lock/unlock both sides when you use the key in the door).
Ends up there are no electronic mechanism in my door locks at all. No wires going to the area or anything. Doesn't look like there are any open mounting holes or whatnot either.
So, for the record, there are 85.5/86 cars that do not have the automatic electric locks, even though the owners manual says there should be.

They were an option. Even cruise was an option- it just seems like standard because the factory loaded cars with options at the end of the model run when these cars got expensive.
