OIL PRESSURE LIGHT

Does any one know if there is a seperate sending unit for the low oil pressure light on an '86 944 turbo? The light comes on in my car intermittently. The pressure gauge reads normally, and I have replaced its sending unit (located under the oil filter),however that did not cure the light. Any ideas?

You can still have good oil pressure even if you are a little low on oil. If you mainly get the light when making hard turns you could be just a little low and suffering from slight oil starvation.
Just trying to eliminate the obvious.

If you are speakin gof the '!' idiot light, it will come on when your brake fluid is low as well. It lights up when making hard turns/accelerating rapidly/braking hard.

My oil light would come on intermittingly, especially when taking a hard left hand turn.
Turns out that the sending unit was shorting out on metal tubing cover located next to it. I bent the tubing a bit and all has been well since.
