Red face I'm sad to say I will NOT be making it to HERSHEY

Thanks to a water pump that is not flowing sufficient amount of coolent though the system to keep the motor cool, I am not going to be able to make the hershey run this year. I am sorry to those who I would have meet up with in the way down. Believe me this is very upsetting to me due to the fac that this water pump was replaced just 4 months ago. Sorry

Spent the intire day checking a doing the following.

Replaced

Thermal switch "Rabbit"
Replaced the thermal sending unit "Block"
Replaced Radiator and flow tested it.
Checked fand and relay both high and low speeds
replaced thermistat in water pump
Flushed system twice
still over heating at this point 200-220 F
but would not go over?
Removed thermistat completly then refilled bleed all air and found car still ran hot 180-200f
we where thinking that the thermistat was bad "Even the new one"

Found that cooling system was not producing any presure even when hot. We tested this when car was hot 200 opend the bleed nut at top of engin and no flud came out. found that only when we reved the motor would any fluid seep out at all.
Also found that at idle there was no fluid flowing through Radiator and it would only warm up the radiator when the motor was reved to 3000+RPM even then it would not cool sufficiently.

Mechanics deturminaton!

Insufficient flow of coolent from water pump. HE stated that this was odd but he has seen it before. HE attributs it to a poor or incorrect rebuild on pump

result I am not going to Hershey solution called Mechanic that installed new pump 4 months ago and explained to him what was done and what the problem was.

He doesn't want to do the work over again so he does not believe me. I got pissed and explaioned to him that there is only one solution that will make me happy "ANd prevent me from sueing there ***. This was for him to replace the water pump with another new or rebuilt and recheck all work then return car back to me "Functioning properly" within three days. which is 24 hours more than it should take to to the job correctly the first time.

That seems quite odd that a water pump wouldn't do it's job. Sure I can understand it leaking or making bad bearing noise. How can it not produce flow? It's simply a shaft, with a pully that spins the impeller and voila water gets pushed. I don't see how the tolerances could be messed up so much that the pump would still work in the car and not produce sufficient flow. Confusing to me.

Red face

According to My mech he has seen them rebuilt with an incorrect size impeller which would cause this problem. Cheap rebuild places can do this. Or worse yet they honed out the outside sealing rim or the pump itself because of damage causing the pump to be too fat out of speck to do its job. I know it sound off the wall but I saw it with my own eyes. I helped him do the whole set of trouble shooting steps even got my hands dirty taking out the rad and fan shroud while he tested all the relays just to help out. I learned alot.
