OK, talked about in another thread a few days ago. Putting Vaseline on black Fuchs to shine them up. Ive been doing it for af ew years now. Was outside today (finally a beautiful day in Ohio) cleaning the P-Car and here's a before and after on the front left wheel for those who are contemplating the results of this stuff. Make your own opinions.

After:

Notice the discrepancy between the center cap color and Fuchs in the first photo, and the relative sameness in photo 2.
The best results Ive gotten is to just dab a small chunk on each of the five spoke and rub it around with a finger inside a small rag, then take the whole rag and start buffing. You dont need as much Vaseline as you think. Its next to impossible to get inside all the nooks and crannys near the bolts/nuts without taking the whole wheel off, but nonetheless, its about a 7 minute job per wheel and the supplies are a $2.59 can of Vaseline and one numb finger.

The vaseline also works great on all your wire connections and battery posts to prevent corrosion.
I had a new phone line installed and was helping the phone guy to get to the telephone pole as we had to cut some branches down. The junction tube was about 80 years old and perfect inside. Guess what it was packed with? Petroleum Jelly - Vaseline.
Don't use KY Jelly as that stuff is water soluble.

Indeed, a definate improvement. Thanks for taking pictures.
I'm thinking it won't help much on my cookie cutters, though...it's not really a flat black. It's more of a glossy dark dark purple gray green.
