I have a new R-134 style compressor and all adaptors necessary that I will let go for less than retail if anyone on the board is interested. Just PM me. I got the kit from Ian's Europarts but ended up just puitting new o-rings and receiver/dryer on my system and going R-134.

For the early cars low side 90degree adapter it is easier to buy a 1" shorter belt from NAPA then grinding away at the alternator bracket (do a search for the part #) - i've just done it and it worked a treat.

I got the 90degree adapter ($4) from ackits.com and i got an o-ring kit (for GM cars) for $10 for loads of o-rings from them, which fitted perfectly.

for my R134 conversion i took off the compressor and tipped it up so all the old R12 oil drained out (the R12 oil does not get on well with R134), then removed the low side valve core (on the compressor on earlies) and put the 90degree adapter on and then put the compressor back on the car with new o-rings and nylog (stuff to make orings seal better from ackits) and the new shorter belt from NAPA - i then changed the accumulator/drier with a new one (ackits.com) - and new o-rings. Then pulled a sort-of vacuum for 1/2 hour (to get the water vapour out of the system) and then put my interdynamics R134/oil/leakstop in the lowside (you can check the pressures with a $10 a/c gauge from any autoshop and now have nice cold air just intime for my drive to Vegas this weekend!

Not bad considering there was no old freon at all in the system!

All of you do yourselves a favour and move here r-12 recharge costed me $20 including testing for leaks

No worries over the R12 and R134 gases here......no laws on it..........YET!

Hey Jake - I got your pm i just havent had a chance to respond yet. With your hose can i charge to 134 without removing the compressor, i already have the new screw on 134 adapters...?

If only i could have made it tonight to the CT GTG we prolly could have charged my car right up If you have the ability could you maybe snap a picture for me? If not thats fine, i will try a local autoparts place this weekend and if i can't find what i think i'm looking for i'll have to stop by sometime if thats ok with you..?

I believe that the valves are different for 134 and 12, ask someone to be sure. I could (maybe) find some R-12 for you if you want to stay stock... but we should do a pressure check, etc, before we try anything.

The valves are very different. r12 is a screw on smaller fitting while 134a is a larger snap fitting. I'd prefer just to put in 134a for ease of charging i guess.

I'll try and stop at a parts place today and if i can't find anything, we'll need to meet up, maybe even arrange another gtg to charge my a/c
