Unhappy collapsed lifter

I've got the car alive, but it's still on life support. After giving it a much needed oil transfusion and getting the oil pump primed I got it's blood pressure up to normal.

Anyway, the lifters pumped up and most of the racket went away. But I've got at least one lifter that I'm sure still hasn't purged all the air out yet.

How long can it take to completely pump up a lifter? Will there be any excessive wear unti the lifter pumps up? I've only ran the engine for a few minutes at a time. How much time should I give the lifter to come back to life?

Until the lifter quiets down I can't really listen for rod bearings.

Reguardless, it's getting completely rebuilt in a couple of months when I get a work shop. It would just be nice to actually be able to drive it around the block once or twice.

Just put new lifters in my na and it took about 15 minutes before it shut up. Clarks Garage says the same thing.

It's...ALIVE! Funny how we all humanize our cars, I'm no exception.

It takes a while to pump up. I normally don't do it all at once. You want to run it for a 3-5 minutes at a time and wait a few hours or a day before you do it again. Most of the time they will pump up and all the noise will go away. The only one that did not pump up was when I replaced the valve that was really bent and the lifter went bad. I had to take the cam tower apart and replace the lifter. I think the noise will go away in a few days.
