turby,

I have not personally heard of such an issue before, however that does not mean it doesn't happen.

Did you find any damage on your torque tube outside of the snapping? It's most likely that your tube had damage from in impact or a defect, and a crack grew from it as the tube was loaded over and over again as power ran through it.

Just a theory.

turby,

The same thing happened to me the summer before last. It had a large crack in the housing on the engine end, then finally snapped. It was one of the more expensive items to replace. (IIRC a new one was ~$2,000; used ~$400) My mechanic said that this is the second one he has ever done. Sorry to hear about it.

P.S. Your car's awesome.

Thanks Matt. It seems it snapped right where it meets the tranny. The end of the tube where it connects to the tranny (the tranny shaped part), exploded and there were about 5 lumps like i tried to push my finger thruogh the tube on the end of the outter part. Take a piece of clay and roll it into a snake/tube..........twist it until it breaks.......thats what it looked like. I got a new torqur tube for 150 yesterday. Installed the new tranny today and it is making wierd sounds like a bee......back to the drawing board...........
