Default How do I fix my dropping door?

Hi Guys,

I've been meaning to sort this problem out with my drivers door ever since I got my car...the bottom part of the door seems to ' kick out ' slightly everytime I opem my door causing it to rub on the bottom 6 inches or so against my front fender....I know its not the hinge that has sagged....I believe its a weld that has broke free from within the door that keeps the door skin held.....any body have this problem and more importantly know the best way to fix it?.....If I knew exactly where the weld was on the inside I was thinking of drilling a hole in the door from the outside and tack welding it back in place....grind off and repaint that section etc...

Hoping to hear of a solution!

Thanks guys

John.

panel adhesive (cheaper/lazy) or remove the door and reweld (better/proper)

Take it to a shop. I tried to fix my drooping door.... Absolute nightmare to try to do.

If you do decide to attempt it, have at least one person to help you, they can hold the door while you fiddle with the bolts.

Thanks guys for the input so far...here are some pics of what I'm talking about...sorry if they are a little blurry but you get the idea..

In pic 1 the door is shut and all is well as regards its position...no problem there but in pic 2 you see how the bottom part of the door doesn't drop down but swings outward enough to rub off the front fender..

Door needs to come off to repair (major pita due to wiring harness). Once it comes off the path forward will be clear.

Thats what my door was doing, and it was still doing it after I tried to fix it.

Trust me, I had more fun removing the engine or doing a clutch job than dicking with the door....

even lazier would be to add shims/washers under the bottom fender bolt to allow the door to slip under...

After you remove the door just remember no sudden left turns if you're heading to the pub! LOL
