Default Which wires do I short together? Auto.

Ok I am doing a sex change (auto to manual).

I need to know which wires to connect so that the car will think it's in park and start.

Picture of the wires included. My camera phone is shot as you can see.

Not sure, but you might check the wiring diagram. Mine shows an 8 pin plug with 7 wires going from the transmission to the plug, and 7 wires going from the plug to the instrument panel for the gear indicator lights. Then at the instrument panel there's an 8 pin plug, with one red/green wire coming out the plug for the park functions, like the door buzzer relay and the tailgate unlock. Nothing related to the starter that I can see.

You might want to contact Legoland951, I think he has mentioned that he has done a few of these conversions himself.

Look at page 97-85, Model 86 wiring diagram. The starter interlock is shown at location K26. Two wires are connected to a switch (starter Interlock, Automatic only). The wires are both colored Red/Black. Short these two wires together to allow the ignition switch to power the DME and alternator.

If you have cruise, you will also need to wire a clutch switch.

There is a switch on the clutch that turns off the cruise when the clutch is depressed. The switch connections go into the cruise control unit.

I think I could do without it. If it only does what you say, I can control it myself and only turn it on in top gear. I rarely use it anyway.
