Post Porsche movie two nights ago!

OK, I was clueless on it but I watched the whole thing from start to finish because the focal point of the movie was PORSCHES.

It was called "No Mans Land" with Charlie Sheen and this other guy. Basically Sheen is a guy who runs a chop house and steals Porsches for a living -- and only Porsches. He befriends a Porsche mechanic whos really working undercover to blow the lid off Sheens enterprise. Its actually a pretty decent movie. Im guessing it was made in the mid late 80s around the time he did Platoon.

Most of the Porsches they steal are 911s. But they did do a nice job of talking liek they knew about Porsches. The undercover mechanic guy asked if he could take the "930" for a spin.

Also, in the chop house there was a gorgeous 924 GT with the hood scoop and clear lens headlights. At least in every scene there was a Porsche. Usually Sheen driving a stolen 911. They stole one wicked 930 and Sheens personal driver was a Targa. It looked Turboish though because it appears to be a widebody.

Most of you have probably seen this movie, but it was new to me so I thought Id mention it. Its probably the movie with the most "Porsche"-centered plot outside a Steve McQueen flick. I dont remember what channel it was one but I think one of the Hibbo channels like HBO Zone or something.

If its on again Im gonna tape it.

I just wish I got chicks in my Porsche as often and as good looking (ok even just once who am I BSing) as these guys in the movie did.

I didn't know about that movie either. Thanks for posting about it.

And in fact I'm downloading right now from Kazaa. Should finish up in a day or two.

I forgot, Randy Quaid is also in the movie.

Here's Roger Eberts review of the 1987 film. He gives it a pretty good review.

A good line in the movie was, "I only steal Porsches."

Oh the humanity. Pretty good flick though, Porsches notwithstanding. If you like fast cars, fast women, and violence (and lets face it, who doesnt?), this may surprise you.

I have that movie if someone wants me to make a "duplicate for my archives". VHS format, I have an original copy.

Its one of my all time favorites also..

Looking at a Ferrari..."Italian trash, besides..I only steal Porsches."

That movie makes me want a 911 cab from the 80s. They all have the polished fuchs and look gorgeous.

Great movie, but no 944s.

When I considered buying a MR2 i found a site with lots of info on the MR2 in movies. Anybody seen anything like this about our cars?

Well this is my first post, I've been lurking here for a few weeks.

I don't have a website, but here's a thread from alt.autos.porsche:

I read that thread above on movie Porsches. However Keatons Porsche in Pacific Heights wasnt a 928, It was a 911.

Favorite scene involving a Porsche: Commando and Arnold chases down Selly in the canary yellow 911 Targa. Then drops him off a cliff. Rae Dawn Chong says, "What happened to Selly??"

"I let him go."

MUAHAHAHAHAHHAHA

Acutally, they will have it out on DVD on Feb 4th, 2003 I believe.

Hey Raceit, if you get it downloaded, and it's the one with Charlie Sheen (not the one by Danis Tanovic) then let me know. I'd love to hook up on AOL and get it from you. I have 1.5meg DSL, should only take 30 mins?

Thanks,
Matt

Will do. I started...or I should say...am trying to download it via kazaa. It's going very slow. At least I can baby sit it while I'm at work.

If I get it downloaded I'll put it on an FTP for you guys. All I have is a cable modem and I have to cap off the traffic to less then half of my bandwidth so the rest of my web sites I host still work. But at least it will be a good verified copy. ...If I can get it downloaded that is.

I've never had this much trouble getting a movie before.

Oh well. You get what you pay for.

I saw that movie on TBS a couple of months ago and it is definitely worth checking out. I plan on buying it for DVD.
