Thumbs up FR Wilk Power PROM 2...

Hey Rennlisters,
Finally got everything back together after installing a FR Wilk Power PROM 2 in my '87 944 NA. Excellent addition to the vehicle IMHO. The stumble around 2500-3000 RPM with a cold engine vanished, and the car feels more torquey at low revs. Seems to improve drivability quite a bit. Still not a 951, but a good upgrade just the same.
Also painted the wheels (ala Chris_924s) and installed new tires. The new tires & balance eliminated the 60 MPH shimmy that seems so common in these. Been a pretty good week for the old Porsche...

Hey 7thStranger,
It's a performance chip for the DME box (engine management electronics). Can check it out at:
http://frwilk.com/944dme/
if you like. Also installed a MSD Blaster coil and changed the fuel filter. These two didn't have any effect that I could tell (did them first + test drove it after each mod just in case I hosed something up ). But the chip certainly seemed to help. It's about 200 bucks for a Wilk chip. Guy seems to know what he's doing when it comes to Bosch Motronic stuff.
Hope your situation improves . Did you find anything out about the dist. cap turning a little? Mine turns a little too when it's locked down, car still seems fine though.
