Hey, I added to my P-car family today!
Well, I guess the thread title is a little premature, as I just gave the seller the deposit today and will be picking the car up Monday...
But, unless some unfortunate circumstance arises, I will soon have this puppy in the garage:
This whole thing has happened pretty quickly, but I have looked at a number of 3.2 Carreras over the past few years, and with the help of Adrian Crawford's buyer's guide, as well as Peter Zimmerman's book and Randy Leffingwell's, I was able to do a good thorough check. The motor is a jewel and the car is spotless underneath (I could not believe how good the engine and air boxes looked). This car was a Florida car, imported last year. The guy I'm buying it from seems to be a very good guy. A local PCA member and this is his 5th P-car and he wants to move up to a 993 Cabrio now.
The car drives very nice and tight, pulls super-strong and the transmission shifts well (somewhat surpising to me as it's a 915). The paint is all original and in very good shape. The most serious issue is the leather dash top, which has taken a beating from the sun. Eventually I'll get that sorted, but otherwise, the interior is good and the leather elsewhere is nice and pliable with no rips or abrasions. The car is stock with the exception of the shift **** and stereo.

Hey, thanks guys!
Yeah Jon, you are right, this does ease the bitterness!!
Actually, I have my wife to thank... She was more upset at how things went than me and actually "goaded" me into looking at a 911! (It did not take much goading though!)

Thank you for the kind words everyone.
I paid a little under $19K which I think is pretty fair for the local market.
NO! I am not going to the same thing to it that I am doing with the 944, at least not until the 944 project is completely done. Two projects at once would sink me!
I just want to enjoy this car - it won't be a daily driver, more of a weekend fun car. I will take care of the little issues and stay on top of all maintenance, but not get sucked into a full blown restoration! I found that the 944 project is dragging out so long, due to extreme busy-ness at work coupled with my way-over-the-top fussiness, that I have been at it three years and it will still be a while before I get it done. That is three years of no P-car driving, which was getting sort of frustrating (completely my own doing). We don't live forever and I always wanted to tootle around in something like this...

That car caught my eye on the PCA UCR classified as well. I thought it looked pretty good for the price. I mentioned it to a guy I work with who is thinking about a 911 but obviously he procrastinated too long!
Congrats!

That is one UGLY car! I do not like it! I will PM you my address and you can park it here until we figure out what to do with it. Of course I will drive it to keep the fluids moving but I wont like it!
