Default Cooling fan resistors and thermal switches

I replaced my nasty worn out wiring and broke one of the thermal switches next to the resistors. 86 models had their resistors under the glove box while 87+ had them under the hood right of the battery near the fan blower motor.

I got a set of resistors from Lart's 89 and there are no thermal switches. I've seen other late model 951s without thermal switches. My question is why did they go without them on later cars and would I have and problems if I ran without them on my early 951? I'm guessing they are an added measure of safety because they are in the cabin while late cars had them outside.

Here is a link to the OE suppliers page

There is no numbers on the switch but I believe the part number is 944.616.513.00

I'd order them but I'd like to drive my car soon and it was supposed to be in a car show tomorrow.

89 on the left and 86 on the right
